This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from the most attractive large paper edition of: 'Fables Choisies .', by Jean de la Fontaine, published in Paris by Desaint & Saillant et Durand, De l'Imprimerie de Charles-Antoine Jombert, 1755-1759. It is considered as one of the highlights of all illustrated books. Referred to as the 'Oudry Edition', with 275 engraved plates after Jean-Baptiste Oudry by Cochin, Tardieu, Prà .vost, Chedel, Lempereur, and others.Artists and Engravers: Author: Jean de la Fontaine. Artist: Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1685-1755). The engraver of this print is P.F. Tardieu.Condition: Excellent. General age related toning and occasional light staining and shop soiling as visible on image.
