Antique print, titled: 'De overstrooming in den Bommelerwaard januarij 1861.' - The flooding of the Bommelerwaard in Gelderland in 1861. It shows large numbers of people saving each other or livestock from a high flood (one couple climbed on their roof to escape the water). Lithograph on wove (vellin) paper. Description: Source unknown, to be determined. State: Only state. Ref: Fred. Muller 7305. Rare print published for the benefit of the victims of the flooding by the boekdealer B. J. Dona Pieck.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Carel Christiaan Anthony Last' after own design. Carel Christiaan Anthony Last (1808-1876) was a very active lithographic artist. Condition: Good, given age. No margins. Attached to carrier board. Right half of the image faintly dampstained. Sheet a little discoloured overall. Carrier stained in the top left and lower right corners. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
