Etching/engraving on hand laid (verge) paper. on paper. Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 35.6 x 30.5 cm. The image size is ca. 32.8 x 27.5 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 14 x 12 inch. The image size is ca. 12.9 x 10.8 inch.Antique print, titled: 'Nuova Carta della Contea di Olanda.' - ('A new map of the Country of Holland'). A map of the western part of the Netherlands. This includes most of the Netherlands as it is now, but focuses on the provinces Utrecht, North Holland and South Holland. "Lo Stato Presente di tutti Paesi e Popoli del Mondo.", published in Venice by Giambista Albrizzi, 1742. This is in fact an amended Italian edition of: 'Modern History: or the Present State of all Nations.', published by Thomas Salmon (1679-1767) since 1725. German and Dutch editions were published as well. The monumental Dutch edition, translated by E. van Gogh and published by Isaac Tirion (1729-1803), was much amended and enlarged into a 39 volume series. Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Giambattista Albrizzi'. Giambattista Albrizzi (1698-1777), a Venetian publisher and journalist. Giambattista (Giovanni Battista) Albrizzi was the publisher of several illustrated books and maps. Among them a monumental edition of Gerusalemme liberata (1745) in two volumes, prepared in a collaboration with Giovanni Battista Piazzetta (1683-1754). The Albrizzi's family was active in book publishing and selling in Venice for some 150 years. Most of the plates in this edition engraved by F. Zucchi (1692-1764).Condition: Excellent, given age. Original folds, as issued. Paper loss in left margin, remargined using contemporary paper backed with acid free archival tape. Some small stains. Left and right margins cropped close to the platemark. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
