Antique print, titled: 'Daubenton.' - Portrait of the naturalist and physician Louis Jean Marie Daubenton. Stipple engraving on wove paper. Description: From "Portraits des orateurs du barreau Francais", published in Paris by C. L. F. Panckoucke in Paris in 1823.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Made under the direction of Ambroise Tardieu' after an anonymous artist. Ambroise Tardieu (1788-1841) was a member of the Tardieu family, who consisted of at least 10 engravers. He produced many sets of prints and worked as an engraver of maps for the navy. Condition: Good, given age. Small margins. A little soiled and with some scattered faint foxing. Left and right margin edges a little browned. Creasing and three small nicks in the top margin (not nearly affecting image). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
