Antique print, titled: 'Bataille de Ratisbonne, livree le 23 Avril 1809.' - (Battle of Ratisbonne, April 23 1809). This print shows the Battle of Ratisbon (Regensburg), Germany, where the French forces under Napoleon clashed with the Austrian Empire led by Archduke Charles. Etching on wove paper. Description: From: "Campagnes des Francais sous le consulat et l' empire", after paintings by Carle Vernet, published by Viscontin, Paris, between 1815-1830.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Pigeot' after 'Jacques Francois Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines'. Jacques Francois Joseph Swebach-Desfontaines (French; 1769-1823) specialised in battle scenes. He was also active as a decorator in the porcelain-manufacture. Condition: Very good, given age. Lower margin a little soiled. A small stain in the top edge of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
