Description: This very scarse set of 3 prints originate from: 'Mémoires pour servir à l'Histoire Naturelle des Animaux. Dresses par Mr. Perrault, de l'Academie Royale des Sciences, Medecin de la Faculte de Paris.', published by Arkstee & Merkus in Amsterdam and Leipzig, 1758. This pioneering work in comparative anatomy was originally published in two folio volumes in Paris, France in 1671-76. The publication was the work of the famous Parisian anatomists led by Claude Perrault. We did not find these plates nor the complete work offered anywhere else on the web!Artists and Engravers: Claude Perrault (1613-1688), was a French physician and architect. The superbly illustrated folding plates are engraved by Claude Duflos (French engraver, 1665-1727). Condition: Excellent. General age-related toning and occasional light staining as visible on image.
