Description: This original antique print is taken from 'Histoire des Voyages.', by Prevost ca. 1750. Engraving by Jan van Schley.Artists and Engravers: Jan van Schley, Dutch engraver. Johan Nieuhoff (1618 - 1672) was a Dutch traveler who wrote about his journeys to Brazil, China and India. The most famous of these was a trip of 2,400 km from Canton to Peking in 1655-1657, which enabled him to become an authoritative Western writer on China. Condition: Good. General age related toning. Small tear in the bottom margin not affecting image. Large brown spot on verso not visible on the front side. Please study scan carefully.
