"Description: No. 2 from the atlas volume of: 'Voyages a Peking, Manille et l'Ile de France (…)1784-1801.' by Chretien-Louis-Joseph de Guignes, published by Treuttel et Wurtz. In Paris, 1808. RareArtists and Engravers: Made by 'Jacques Eustache de Seve' after 'Chretien-Louis-Joseph de Guignes'. Jacques Eustache de Seve (1742 - 1788) was the main artist commissioned by Buffon for his "Histoire Naturelle, Générale et Particulière" (1749-1760). He was one of the first artists to use complete scenes including landscape backgrounds, which influenced later natural history illustrators.
