The image size is ca. 5.1 x 7.6 inch.Antique print, titled: 'Talassius Basilides a Gombervilla aetat suae XLIII.' - This print shows a portrait of the author, Marin Le Roy de Gomberville, at age 43. From: 'La Doctrine des Moeurs [� �]' printed by Louys Sevestre for Pierre Daret, Paris, 1646. First edition. Author: Marin le Roy de Gomberville. Made by order of Mazarin for the instruction of the young Louis XIV. The plates are copies in reverse after Otto van Veen's emblems in 'Q. Horatii Flacci Emblemata.' Ref: Brunet II 1658.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'P. Daret' after own design. Otto van Veen, also known by his Latinized name Otto Venius or Octavius Vaenius, (c.1556-1629) was a painter, draughtsman, and humanist active primarily in Antwerp and Brussels in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century.Condition: Good, given age. Some small stains in margin, not affecting image. Stain in left margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. We ship worldwide and package our items meticulously. We carry an umbrella insurance policy. Our shipment rates are based on shipments up to 1 kg. For heavier shipments we will contact you with a quote. Currently our surcharge for international shipments over 1 kg is 9,14 euro / kg. In addition POST NL temporarly charges 3,60 euro per kg due to CORONA related logistics. We ship by registered mail through POST NL. Expedited shipping or shipment through another carrier is available on request at a possible surcharge.
