Antique print, titled: 'Violante, Figlia di Jacopo Palma il Vecchio.' - A portrait of Violante, daughter of Jacopo Palma il Vecchio. Palma il Vecchio (ca. 1480-1528), born Jacopo Palma and also known as Jacopo Negretti, was an Italian painter of the Venetian school born at Serina Alta near Bergamo. Engraving on hand laid paper. Description: Published in Venice, 1835.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Galgano Cipriani' after 'Teodore Malteini after Paris Bordone'. Galgano Cipriani (1775-ca. 1857) was an Italian engraver from Siena. He was a pupil of Raphael Morghen. He became a professor at the Naples and Venice Academies. He was the brotehr of Giovanni Battista and Barbato. Paris Bordon (or Paris Paschalinus Bordone; 1500-1571) was an Italian painter of the Venetian Renaissance who, despite training with Titian, maintained a strand of mannerist complexity and provincial vigor. Condition: Very good, given age. Margin cropped to or over the plate mark. Vague horizontal fold in middle, vidible on rear. Rear blank.
