Antique print, titled: 'La procession du st. Sacrament' - ('The procession of the Holy Sacrament'). A long procession train leaves a chapel in the left background to walk past a river. Engraving / etching on hand laid paper. Description: "Galerie du Palais Royal .", Paris: J. Couche & J. Bouilliard, [n.d., 1786-1808]. This series of plates depict the collection of the Royal Palace in Paris. Each plate is set in a decorative border and accompanied by a descriptive text (by l'Abbe de Fontenal), describing the artist and painting. The author Jacques Couche (1759-1836), was a French engraver, student of Levasseur.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Francois Dequevauviller' after 'Annibal Carrache'. Francois Dequevauviller (1745 - ca. 1807) was a French engraver of mainly landscapes and marine scenes. Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) was a renowned printmaker, draughtsman, painter and etcher born in Bologna. Condition: Very good, given age. Margin edges uneven as issued. Two original pinholes from binding in left margin. Small stains in margin. Small wormhole in left upper. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
