Engraving on wove paper. Watermark: Textband Made by 'Antony Wierix' after 'Maarten de Vos'. Anthony (or Anton II) Wierix (1555-1604) was a Flemish engraver from the famous and prolific Wierix family of engravers. Maarten de Vos (1532-1603) was an Antwerp painter and draughtsman of the late sixteenth century. His travels to Italy made him adopt the Mannerist style. His designs were very popular and were followed widely. Very good, given age. Ample margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
