From "Bybelsche Figuren, vertonende de voornaamste Historien der Heylige Schrifture .", published in 1717 by I. Enschede, Haarlem. Ref: New Hollstein 335-422 Bible. Etching on laid paper. Made by 'Pieter van der Borcht' after an anonymous artist. Pieter van der Borcht (Flemish; 1545-1608) was born in Malines and worked there and in Antwerp. He was one of the first to use the etching-technique extensively. He was the chief illustrator of the famous Antwerp publisher Plantijn. Good, given age. Ample margins.
