(Samber en Maas, a previously French departement / province in present day Belgium) This plate shows an alegoric emblem with river gods representing the rivers Sambre and Meuse. Original etching. Description: Collector's piece. This artisctic old antique print / etching originates from a very scarse work: 'En Canot de Douai au Helder.' (By Canoe from Douai, France to Den Helder, Netherlands.), by Jules Cavrois and Henri Duhem, published in Paris by C. Marpon and Flammarion in 1881. Artists and Engravers: Henri Duhem (1860-1941) was a French lawyer, painter and collector. The etchings are by R. Bureau after Duhem. Condition: Excellent. General age related toning.
