Original antique print. It shows: musketeers and pikemen charging city walls. Two commanders in the foreground. Original etching/engraving on handlaid (verge) paper. Description: This original print originates from a work by Basan: 'Dictionnaire des graveurs anciens et modernes depuis l'origine de la gravure', published in Paris in 1767, and again in 1789. This work contained numerous engravings, some of which were copies made by Basan, others original plates. It was published by Basan in 1761.Artists and Engravers: Artist: Perelle. This plate by one of the brothers Adam (1640-1695) or Nicolas Perelle (1631-c.1695) or their father Gabriel (c. 1603-1677). Published by: Basan, in 1761. Pierre-Francois Basan (Paris 1723-1797) is a French engraver. He was a pupil of Etienne Fessard and Jean Daulle. He was principally occupied as a printseller, and published a 'Dictionnaire des Graveurs' in 1767. Condition: Very good, given age.
