This rare original print shows: a stage design for an opera: 'Het XII Toneel uit de Opera van de Kuiper �' (12th Stage from the Opera of the Cooper .), with three figures in the left foreground of a cooper's workshop. Etching/engraving on a verge type handlaid paper. Hand colouring. Description: Separately published master print. Our definition of master print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters. Published in c. 1780 by: T. Crajenschot, AmsterdamArtists and Engravers: Engraved by C. Bogerts after a design by P. Barbiers after Rysschoot. Cornelis Bogerts (1745-1817) was a Dutch etcher and engraver, student of J. Punt and an associate of R. Vinkeles. Pieter Barbiers (Amsterdam, 1717-1780) wa a skillful Dutch artist, known for the painting work he did on theatre scenery. Condition: Fair given age. A sizeable (closed) hole in the right edge of the image, backed with contemporary paper and acid-free archival tape. Missing part of the image has been carefully drawn and coloured in. Entire sheet a little ribbed/creased. A tear in the top left corner, and paper loss to that margin, have been reinforced with contemporary paper and acid-free archival tape. Top edge remargined.
