Antique print, titled: 'Overdam the seat & garden of mr. Peter Melkpot .' - View of the estate Overdam aan de Vecht near Hinterdam in the Netherlands. Curious print, published by John Bowles in London. It states Cornelis de Bruyn as inventor, but it is in fact based on the views by Stopendael from the "Zegepraalende Vecht". Part of a set of at least four views. Overdam. Engraving on Laid paper. Made by 'P. Lamy' after 'Daniel Stoopendaal'. P. Lamy was active in London as engraver in the first half of the 18th. Century. Daniel Stoopendaal (1672-1726) was active in Amsterdam from 1685 to 1713. Daniel engraved topographical prints and maps. He engraved the plates for books published by Pieter van der Aa: 'De zegepralende Vecht van Utrecht tot Muyden' and 'Galérie agreable du Monde'. Fair, given age. No margins, reworked to an optical view, textcaption attached verso. Print attached to carrier sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
