Antique print, titled: 'Venus et l' Amour' - Venus and Cupid. Cupid gives Venus a peck on the cheek. Engraving / etching on hand laid paper. Description: "Galerie du Palais Royal .", Paris: J. Couche & J. Bouilliard, [n.d., 1786-1808]. This series of plates depict the collection of the Royal Palace in Paris. Each plate is set in a decorative border and accompanied by a descriptive text (by l'Abbe de Fontenal), describing the artist and painting. The author Jacques Couche (1759-1836), was a French engraver, student of Levasseur.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'J.C. Bouillard' after 'Annibal Carrache'. Jacques Bouillard (1744-1806) was a french engraver. Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) was a renowned printmaker, draughtsman, painter and etcher born in Bologna. Condition: Very good, given age. Margin edges uneven as issued. Two original pinholes from binding in left margin. Stains in margin and a few small stains in print.
