Antique print, titled: 'Het dorp Eemenss, buiten s' Dyk.' - This print shows the village of Eemnes, outside the dike, in the Netherlands. Copper plate engraving on hand laid paper. Description: No. 3 from a series.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Willem Writs??' after 'Jan de Beijer'. Willem Writs (1731-1786; active in Amsterdam 1760-1786) was a Dutch watch maker and engineer but also a draughtsman and etcher of architecture and landscapes. He is one of the founders of the artist circle Felix Meritis in Amsterdam. Jan de Beijer (1703 - 1780), also given as Jan de Beyer, was a Dutch draughtsman and painter known for this drawings of towns and buildings in the present-day countries of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In total, he produced some 1500 drawings, over 600 of which were reproduced as engravings by other artists. Condition: Fair, given age. Original folds. Tear in top of print, affecting image. Tears in magin, reinforced with acid free archival tape. Creases in lower part of print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
