The Twelve Prophets refer to section of the Hebrew Bible, also known to Christians as the Minor Prophets of the Old Testament: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi. Etching and engraving on verge type hand laid paper. Description: This original old antique print originates from a 1727 edition of: 'De Helden Goden des Ouwden Verbonds . Gerijmt door J. V. Vondelen.', first published in 1620. This book describes the Gods of the Old Testament in prints and poetry / verse. This edition was published by Gysbert de Groot (heirs), Amsterdam. 1727.Artists and Engravers: The author and poet of this work is Joost van den Vondel (1587-1679). He was a Dutch writer and playwright. He is considered the most prominent Dutch poet and playwright of the 17th century.
