Plate, page 182. It shows: Christ in the sun, holding a crown in one hand, and a bunch of flowers in the other. Below are two groups of people - men on the right, holding weapons, women on the left, holding flowers. Original woodcut on verge type hand laid paper. Watermarks present, but nog visible on every sheet. Description: This delicate plate originates from: 'Oogen Salve; Verdeylt in Drie Tractaten.', by Petri de la Faille, 1647 ed. published in Leuven by Bernardijn Maes. (Transl.: Eyes ointment / anointing eyes, divided in 3 parts.) This work is lavishly illustrated with fine woodblock prints.Artists and Engravers: Author: Petrus de la Faille (b.1584), who was a preacher in Caudekerc. Born Calvinist in Dordrecht he later moved to Belgium, where het transferred to Catholocism in 1607 and became a Franciscan. Plates cut by Christoffel van Sichem. Christoffel van Sichem (1581, Basel � 1658, Amsterdam), was a Dutch Golden Age woodcutter and engraver. Condition: Good given age. General age-related toning and/or light stains from handling.
