The biblical figure Daniel is the central protagonist of the Book of Daniel. According to the Biblical book of Daniel, at a young age Daniel was carried off to Babylon where he was trained in the service of the court under the authority of Ashpenaz. This plate shows Daniel in the Lion's den. Etching and engraving on verge type hand laid paper. Description: This original old antique print originates from a 1727 edition of: 'De Helden Goden des Ouwden Verbonds . Gerijmt door J. V. Vondelen.', first published in 1620. This book describes the Gods of the Old Testament in prints and poetry / verse.
