Etching of the bow of a sail ship moored in a harbour, with a smaller sailing vessel beside it.Etching on wove paper.Sheet size: 43,4 x 34,5 cm. Image size: 38,8 x 30,6 cm.Signed in pencil in the lower right. Ref: Wagner, p.56, nr. 1. Provenance: From a private collection, purchased from Kunsthandel Borzo.Made by 'Antoon Derkzen van Angeren' after own design. Anthonius Philippus (Antoon) Derkzen van Angeren (Delft 1878 - Bedford (Canada) 1961) was a Dutch etcher, graphic artist and painter. He initially made illustrations for the faience pottery firm De Porceleyne Fles. There he was stimulated by Leon Senf to concentrate on etching and painting. Thus he slowly became an independent artist. He moved to Rotterdam in 1911, where the harbour became his inspiration. From 1917 to 1943 he was a teacher at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam.Condition: Very good, given age. Two small creases in the lower margin. A few spots of soiling in the margins. We ship worldwide and package our items meticulously. We carry an umbrella insurance policy. Our shipment rates are based on shipments up to 1 kg. For heavier shipments we will contact you with a quote. Currently our surcharge for international shipments over 1 kg is 9,14 euro / kg. In addition POST NL temporarly charges 3,60 euro per kg due to CORONA related logistics. We ship by registered mail through POST NL. Expedited shipping or shipment through another carrier is available on request at a possible surcharge.
