"Botanical print" published by Samuel Curtis (British - 1779-1860). Hand colored engraving. "Weddell Sc" - at lower right. The engraver is Weddell. "Pub. by S. Curtis Walworth April 1, 1818" at center below. Original printed in 1818. Samuel Curtis was a noted horticulturalist. In Walworth near London was the most noted firm specializing in florists' flowers, established by James Maddoch the Elder in the 18th century - probable location where an example of the the plant was available. #N1980 in upper right corner indicates it was this numbered print from Curtis's Botanical Magazine, April 1818 issue.
