PRINTED SHEET DESCRIPTION: Unsigned, unused Abstinence Society pledge sheet, published by the Diocese of St. Paul, Minnesota, undated, but with date "188_" and allowing for signatures of the "Spiritual Director of Union" and the person making the pledge. Laid flat on foam core with plastic protection. CONDITION DESCRIPTION; Near fine with only minor soiling. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Very unusual blank form allowing an individual to promise, "with Divine Assistance and Sacred Thirst and Agony of the Savior, to Abstain From All Intoxicating Drinks". With printed Bible verses supporting the religious underpinnings of the greatness of abstinence and forgoing spirits. Certainly a worthy goal, unfortunately I am one who, on occasion, enjoys a smallish dram of Polish vodka, especially the Buffalo Grass variety.
