Tim Mara screen print titled Chequered Jersey . Printed in black and white on buff coloured paper. Signed, titled and numbered 10/ 25 copies in pencil by the artist. Printed on Barcham Green hand made soft wove paper. Fine condition. Image size 21 x 26cm (9.25 x 10.25 inches) Sheet with image 25.5 x 28cm (10 x 11 inches) This was plate 70, as published in A Tribute to Birgit Skiold , 1983. Tim Mara [British 1948-1997] Tim Mara was born in Dublin and studied art at Epsom, Wolverhampton and the Royal College of Art where he attained his Masters Degree under Alistair Grant. He was Professor of Printmaking at the Royal College from 1991 until his death. He had his first solo show of prints in 1974 and the screen prints he made in the 1970s reveal his interest in cluttered domestic interiors and a sense of narrative. Technically his prints are very dense and complex, often with as many as fifty or sixty separately printed colours. He did not wish to be thought of as a Pop artist and said that his heroes were the painters Piero della Francesca, Velasquez and Vermeer.
