A view of several closely moored oyster fishing boats in the river Thames in Billingsgate, London. One of the boats is identified as a Peter boat (Peterboat), another as a Hatch boat.Engraving, chine-coll�e on wove paper.Sheet size: 36,5 x 26,2 cm. Image size: 20,6 x 16 cm.Signed in the plate.Made by 'Edward William Cooke' after own design. Edward William Cooke (1811-1880) was an English landscape and marine painter and gardener. He was a skilled draughtsman and engraver, who displayed a preference for marine subjects. His uncle, William Bernard Cooke was also a noted line engraver.Condition: Very good, given age. Some tiny stains and soiling in the margin edges. Remains of attachment to carrier in the top margin rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
