Syoji Ikeda etching and aquatint printed in black ink with a brown/ sepia background. The sheet has the artists embossed blind stamp mark in lower right margin. Signed, titled and numbered 10/25 copies, in pencil by the artist. Printed on hand-made Barcham Green wove paper. Fine. Image size 150 x 159mm (6 x 6.25 inches) Sheet size 30 x 30cm (11.75 x 11.75 inches) Ryoji Ikeda [Japan 1966- ] Ryoji Ikeda, born in Nemuro, Japan, studied and taught at the Musashino Art University in Tokyo and is credited with introducing the photo-etching printmaking process to Japanese artists. Ikeda has extensively exhibited since the late 1970s and has won many prestigious awards. His work is represented in many private, corporate and public collections. Ikeda was the Distinguished International Artist in Residence in the Printmaking Division of the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta, from 1997 to 1998.
