Henri Abraham Chatelain's "Atlas Historique". The work was published by the author in Amsterdam between 1718 and 1720. The text was combiled by Gueudeville & Garillon. The maps were completed by Chatelain some influenced by Guillaume de l'Isle's work. The work was published in several editions, and the second edition was the first to include additional maps not found in the first including a map of the world, Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. --- "Atlas Historique" was a highly ambitious and groundbreaking work covering genealogy, cosmography, topography, heraldry, and chronology. It was intended for the general public and the increased fascination with the recently conquered colonies and the new discoveries. Chatelain's maps are an outstanding example of the golden age of French mapmaking. --- The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There may be some faint offset or minor imperfections to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions. About the book >.>.> This book reinterprets the Muslim architecture and urban planning of South India, looking beyond the Deccan to the regions of Tamil Nadu and Kerala - the historic coasts of Coromandel and Malabar. For the first time a detailed survey of the Muslim monuments of the historic ports and towns demonstrates a rich and diverse architectural tradition entirely independent from the better known architecture of North India and the Deccan sultanates. The book, extensively illustrated with photographs and architectural drawings, widens the horizons of our understanding of Muslim India and will no doubt pave new paths for future studies in the field. Mehrdad Shokoohy is an architect and specialist in the conservation of urban environments. He is Chair of Architecture and Urban Studies at the University of Greenwich, and has a particular interest in the architecture and planning of the Middle East, and South and Central Asia. His expertise extends to the fields of the literature, history, archaeology, epigraphy and numismatics of these regions. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers Batch-FM493-LN-10916
