Saito created a series of woodblock prints of his home city of Aizu during different seasons. this bold image is one of several winter scenes he did, c. 1960. It is signed in graphite lower left."Kiyoshi Saito" and also has his chop in red. Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) was a renowned 20th century Japanese printmaker who combined traditional Japanese woodblock techniques with Western modernism. 10" x 15 1/2" image is printed on a deckle edge sheet of 11 3/4" x 16 1/2" paper.
