Antique print, titled: 'Afbeeldinge van Schevelinge in den jaare 1729' (place in the book: vol 1 p 39). It shows Scheveningen (near The Hague) as it was in 1729. Original etching/engraving on a hand laid (verge) type paper with watermark (not visible in every sheet). Description: This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from: 'Beschrijving van 's Gravenhage.', by Mr.Jacob Riemer (1676-1762), published in Delft by Reinier Boitet, 1730. With many beautiful engravings of important buildings, churches, monasteries, manors and castles of The Hague, current location of the Dutch Government in the Netherlands.Artists and Engravers: Author: Mr. Jacob de Riemer (1676-1762), the author of the most famous description of Hague in the 18th century. Associated artists and engravers with this work are: Gerrit van Giesen(1692-1750), Jan Caspar Phillips (1700-1765) and F.v.Bleyswyck. Published by Reinier Boitet (1680-1750). Condition: Good, given age. Several folds, as issued. The middle fold is restored and the left edge remargined using contemporary paper backed with acid free archival tape. A few small stains in top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
