Oil on board, measuring 15 1/4 x 13 1/4 inches, in a wood frame. Unsigned, undated, ca. 1980s. Identified from the label of Hobe Sound Galleries North, Portland, Maine. The painting has some craquelure and a scratch and would benefit from some restoration. Wife of Ben Shahn, Bernanda Bryson Shahn worked as a professional illustrator known for her cover illustrations for Scientific American and children's books. After retiring, she devoted herself to her own drawing, painting, and printmaking.
