Delineations of Cutaneous Diseases, 33. - London, Henry G. Bohn, 1816 (1849), 1 hand colored engraved plate, 246 x 242 mm, added a descriptive text leaf. It was scarcely necessary to figure so common a disease as Erysipelas; and this representation of POMPHOLYX, therefore, constitutes the only illustration of the fourth Order of Cutaneous Diseases, BULLAE, Blebs, or Blains. Fig. 1.-POMPHOLYX diutinus, " An eruption of bulla, without any inflammation around them, and without fever/' The vesications seem to commence from red tingling elevations of the cuticle, nearly resem-bling papulse (as at A.); these rise into transparent vesicles (as at B.); which become yellow, and enlarge (as at C and D.) i break and inflame (as at E.); and at length form a scab on the excoriated surface (as at S.). Fig. 2.-Represents an appearance of the Pompholyx, which is some-times connected with the Prurigo formicans. "In 1814 Bateman acquired the copyright to the engravings in the Willan treatise. He arranged to have the plates refurbished. . ., replaced a few, added to them a completely new set of engravings depicting the later Genera, which had never before been illustrated.".
