Antique Master Print, untitled. Mediterranean harbour scene. Sailors unloading a sail from a rowing boat. Etching on hand laid paper. Description: From a series of Mediteranean harbours. State: only state Ref: Hollstein 17. Rare. Artists and Engravers: Made by M. Schaep after Cornelis de Wael. Schaep was active around 1650. Not much else is known about him. Cornelis de Wael (1592-1667) was active as painter and art dealer. He stayed in Italy for a large part of his career. It is not clear whether he made prints himself. Condition: Good, given age. No margins. Impression a little faint in the top corners. Two small stains in the top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
