Plate: 'Domus Palatinae Gloria a Regno.' (Dome/house of the Royal Palatinate, Glory to the kingdom.) This engraving is an allegory on the Palatinate and its regions. This plate shows a column with all the countries / regions belonging to the Palatinate, being most of western Europe. The colums is flanked by a royal female figure and an eagle holding the royal scepter and crowns. Descriptive 3 sheets of text are included. Engraving and etching on a verge type hand laid paper. 100% authentic. Description: This very scarse antique print originates from: 'Basilica Carolina, opus grande, non homini, sed deo Praeparata habitatio . Mannhemii Papatina . a Carolo Philippo e ducale domo Neoburgica .Carola Theodoro e ducali domo Neoburgico-Solisbacensi .', published by Typographejo Electorali Aulico, Mannheim, c. 1760. Resources mention Johann Heinrich Andreae as the probable author. This beautiful large folio dedication work describes the building and architecture of the Karskirche as part of the Jesuit Monastery in Mannheim, Germany in the period 1733-1760. This project was started by the Duke of Pfalz-Neuberg: Karl Phillip and finished by the 'Kurfurst': Karl Theodor of Pfalz-Neuburg-Sulzbach. The architects involved in this project are Fernandino Galli da Bibiena and Franz Wilhelm Rebaliatti.Artists and Engravers: The engravers of this work are Joseph Sebastian Klauber, Johann Baptist Klauber and Johann Georg Wille. This plate is shows below the image left and right Klauber and August Vind as the engravers after Jus Bäumgen. Condition: Excellent; General age related toning; Paper edges a bit irregular.
