Engraving from Shepherd's part-time work series :Metropolitan Improvements; or London In the Nineteenth Century" (London: 1827-1830) Engraved by William Walls (fl.1816-1855_ from an original study the original now on the Westminster Library. Steel line hand-colored engraving on paper. Engraved surface 93 x 150mm (aprox. 3.75 x 5.785 in.) Modest age-toning, overall in very good condition. Matted 10 by 8 inches. . A handsome antique print - A Neo-classical buildings are seen at left and right on either side of Waterloo Place and lower Regent Street which are busy with carriages, riders and pedestrians. The view is running north from the corner of Great Marlborough Street - with the premises of George Frederick Urling & Co., Lancemen to the King, and Patentees of the New British Lace, on the corner at no. 224 (with the Royal Arms over the door, and a view of fashionable London Beyond -- leading to the spire of All Souls, Langham Place, in the distance.
