From the Tasso Tree series which was published by Bernard Jacobson Gallery in 1986.In excellent condition.Sheet size 90 x 68cm (36 x 26.5 inches)Torquato Tasso 1544-1595 acclaimed but troubled Italian poet wrote his epic work Jerusalem Delivered in 1575. Harking back to Virgil s Polydorus his character Tancredi, having slain his Clorinda, enters the forest outside of Jerusalem, which has been enchanted by Ismend to prevent their felling for siege towers by the crusading knights.
