Condition: good to front some ageing with loss of top corner tips, and loss to lower right hand side. antique print dated in print 1641 We are not sure of date of printing as has been trimmed too much a long time ago, but do not think it was printed in 1641. The rear shows dirt and top, 5/6 in pencil bottom right and had once been mounted top and most probably been framed. To front some ageing. Signed within print to side of the table top W. Below the figure is verses, in Latin on the left and English on right, about dressing for the weather . printed left is. Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677) published a large number of costume prints in the middle of the seventeenth century including Englishwomen in winter clothing. This print shows a lady wearing a fur collar and muff, a chaperone hood with a second hood/coif underneath, and a half mask? . Wenceslaus Hollar (1607-1677) artist and engraver. Born Prague, Kingdom of Bohemia (Poland) 1607, in 1636 he met art collector Thomas Howard, 21st Earl of Arundel . In 1637 he went with Arundel to England, where he remained in the earl's household for many years. Hollar married Tracy a lady-in-waiting to the Countess of Norfolk.
