This is "Ballou's Monthly Magazine, Volume XXV, No. 2, February 1867, published in Boston by Elliott, Thomes, & Talbot (63 Congress St.) The issue starts out with several 'factual' articles, concerning : Esquimaux Culture (Eskimos, Inuit); Town and Port of Batavia, Java; the Milan Cathedral; Wool transport in Australia; Parlor Magic (very brief); and the Palace of Fontainebleau, France. There are a number of engraved illustrations of varied quality that accompany these articles. The cover has the typical extended edges. *************************************** CONDITION - GOOD - This old magazine is previously owned and shows the wear of long use, and if rough on the exterior, the interior is clean. It remains quite serviceable , the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR -- Paper is split at the spine folds; loss of surface paper at spine extremities; spine length is considerably worn and patchy; cover displays staining, spotting, smudging and weathering; The edges are ragged, especially the bottom edges (tears, chipping and creasing) / BINDING -- Cover attachment is fragile - text-block remains fairly solid. the whole needs to be handled with care / INTERIOR -- Scattered foxing, small spotting and a bit of smudging, but essentially clean and presentable throughout.
