Beschreibung
"A woman cannot reasonably want to be a commander-in-chief." Rare Ayn Rand article in January, 1968, issue of McCall's Magazine, featuring an article by Ayn Rand (and 15 other then-prominent woman), who'd been asked: What would I do if I were President of the United States? Unlike other contributors (including Betty Friedan, Lauren Bacall, Leontyne Price, Joan Baez, Margaret Truman, Diana Trilling), Rand's answer addresses principles (recognizing individual rights and the banning of the initiation of force) and its applications (abolishing the draft, repealing antitrust legislation). This issue of McCall's also features an article on Jacqueline Kennedy (before Jackie O) and then-married Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton who insist "We re really just like any other couple." Rare Rand article not reprinted in any of her books. Accompanying this issue of McCall's is the December 1968 issue of Rand's monthly periodical, The Objectivist, in which she explains, with a reference to Atlas Shrugged, why a woman cannot reasonably want to be a commander-in-chief. The McCall's magazine (now over 55 years old) is in near-fine condition, with some upper spine edgewear and cover fading, complete with insets and no markings at all. The issue of the Objectivist is in fine condition. Rare Ayn Rand. Book #Cv1121. $290. From the world's largest collection of rare, signed, manuscript, and photographed Ayn Rand.
