Beschreibung
4to and 8vo. Together 2½ pp. With 3 autograph envelopes. In French. Together with 2 letters by Berthe de Vlaminck, a statement by Maurce Delamain on the verso of a photograph of a painting by Vlaminck, the manuscript of a blurb for Vlaminck's memoir "Tournant Dangereux" by André Bay, and the copy of a letter by Maurice de Vlaminck. Correspondence with his publisher and friend Maurice Delamain, mostly concerning private matters. - The earliest letter, dated 26 August 1924, is to inform Delamain of the receipt of a check and concerns paintings that Delamain has picked up from Vlaminck in his Ford, expressing his hope that he will "always enjoy them" (transl.). The letters from 1934 and 1939 include the suggestion of a meeting in Paris and the announcement of a photograph, originally enclosed. - The letters by Berthe de Vlaminck (1891-1974) are dated 20 April 1945 and 12 January 1974, respectively. The earlier letter is addressed to Maurice Delamain's daughter Céline. Berthe relates that her husband has finished a new painting under the impression of the Liberation of France and asks Céline when she will visit them in Rueil-la-Gadelière. The much later letter from the year of Berthe de Vlaminck's death was to congratulate Delamain on his life's work and to send New Year wishes. - Maurice Delamain's statement is dated Paris, 8 May 1958. It was to confirm Delamain's sale of a painting by Maurice de Vlaminck from 1924, as pictured in the photograph, to a man named Albert de Domenico, describing in detail how Delamain had personally picked up the painting at Vlaminck's house in August of 1924 and subsequently lent it to Vlaminck for an exhibition, and that had been Vlaminck's publisher from 1923, listing five publications. It is very probable that the painting was one of the two mentioned by Vlaminck in the letter from 1924. - Two letters on stationery with printed address. Two letters stamped by Librairie Stock. Some browning, minor tears, and stains, and staple holes. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 58615
