British Poet Laureate John Masefield (1878-1967) signed this printed letter which reads: Dear [Mr. Beach], I thank you for your very kind letter of congratulation. I regret that it is not possible for me to thank all my gracious friends with a written letter. With all good wishes, Yours sincerely, [J. Masefield] . Masefield has, in his hand, written in Mr. Beach , personalizing this form letter which Masefield apparently sent to his numerous fans. John Masefield (1878-1967) is best known for his children s novels, The Midnight Folk and The Box of Delights, and the poems, The Everlasting Mercy and Sea-Fever . He was Poet Laureate from 1930 to 1967. Letter measures 7 x 4 ½ and is imprinted: Boars Hill, Oxford. Condition: Mailing fold line, otherwise very good condition with a clear signature.
