Unpublished portfolio by the late author Abraham Shulman, containing typed sheets of a humorous work together with delightful illustrations. This is a true one-off, a truly unique work. It's also very entertaining! I cannot find out anything about this particular work, and reproduce the title page in full as the information contained therein may be of use to somebody more familiar with this writer's background: 'Collected Letters of God. Written on various occasions to men and women from the Bible. Written by Abraham Shulman. Illustrated by Zahu. Copyright 1979. [Handwritten names and addresses, presumably in the hand of the author.] Mr Abraham Shulman, 3729 Lyme Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. Elisabeth Hureau, [presumably the illustrator Zahu .] 4 Rue Edouard Detaille, 92100 Boulogne Billancourt.' Contained within a card folder, the work is in the form of twenty typed letters each with a facing full page original illustration. The text and pictures were originally pasted onto individual sheets of thick paper. Some of them are now unstuck because the glue has deteriorated with age Size: 12.5" x 9.5" Weight: 850g About the author: Abraham Shulman , also Avrom Shulman (Born June 1913 in Warsaw , Died November 1 1999 in Seagate, Coney Island ) was a Polish-American journalist and author. After graduating from high school in Warsaw, Shulman studied at the local journalism school. His studies were interrupted by the war, and he succeeded in fleeing to Australia with his wife in 1939 via Vladivostock and Kobe / Japan. In Melbourne he worked for ten years as a journalist and then moved to France, where he lived with his family for another ten years (one son and one daughter were born in Paris). From 1961 he lived and worked in New York, where he worked for the newspaper 'The Jewish Daily Forward' and wrote a satirical column.
