Typed letter on white paper with signature of George Pratt at bottom. Letter has been folded twice and is delicate at folds. Letter has light toning and light soiling on verso near folds. This letter was written to Portland, Oregon socialite, Mrs. J. B Montgomery, concerning her recent presentation of a basket and blanket collection to George D. Pratt. George Dupont Pratt was a conservationist and prominent figure in the formation of the Boy Scouts of America. In this letter he thanks Montgomery for the collection of baskets and provided a check for $3250.00 (not included with the letter). Many of the baskets were collected around the turn of the twentieth century by Montgomery's husband who surveyed the Puget Sound for the Northern Pacific Railway.
