Two leaves, 9" x 7.5" and 8.5" x 8," each addressed, on versos, to Richard H. Dana, Esq., in Cambridge MA, the first of these with a presumed rubber stamp postal cancellation from Stockbridge, marked September 20th, the second truncated for reasons unknown along the top edge but still carrying Bryant's signature. The earlier of these, titled "POETRY," was later published as "A WALK AT SUNSET." Jacob Blanck noted the work appeared in Part 6 of the author's "THE IDLE MAN," cited at BAL 1566, which was edited into publication by Richard Henry Dana Jr. Both men share the same public profiles as lawyers and poets. I have not located "HER LAST ADIEU" in any published work. Dana was one of Bryant's earliest and closest friends. That these two sheets were sent to him would have been pro forma for the then famous, young poet. They corresponded regularly. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers E-90/36
