These are the many works by Rev. E. H. Holbrook Sr. the Methodist Preacher. The collection includes: *Personal Ephermera Collection of him and son *Personal collection of MSs of E.H. Holbrook, eminent Methodist laymen who appears to also have done a stint as a circuit rider in Brazos County, hymnist, editor of The Juvenile Journal, etc. It seems one of his sons, who was also E.H. Holbrook, became a Christian Scientist and there are some of his writings as well. A wonderful archive including: *Printed copy with handwritten corrections of Mother's Reply to Rock me to Sleep. Published in Zion's Harp. *Printed copy of Horrors of War by Holbrook *Worn, but wonderful entire MSs book entitled Poems of E.H. Holbrook (entirely in his hand) Includes The Tempest Stilled, The Reward of the Good, Wounded and Dying Soldier, Knowledge Pride and Wisdom, Outward Beauty, The Wanderers Return, The Little Prisoners Lament, etc. over 200pp. *7pp. temperance sermon in MSs title Wine! Wine! VS. the Fruit of the Vine! Handwritten on the rear of Biotechnic Treatment > broadsides, those written by E.H. Holbrook. * 6pp. MSs on Swedenborg. *Printed broadside of the Star Spangled Banner, Baltimore, September 1914. *Original MSs Poem by Maria Waller titled Convalescent. Published in The Juvenile Journal , 1860 *Printed article, Swedenborgs Anniversary *Folio sheet poem in MSs, Come Brother, Let Us Rally * Original MSs poem Judge Not too Harshly by J. Nick. Holbrook. Then an accompanying typed copy of the words with text corrections in hand, plus about 30 copes of the lovely Victorian printed edition of the sheet music for Jesus Lover of My Soul by Holbrook.
