Reliure de l'époque de demi-chagrin maroquiné havane, dos à nerfs orné de filets gras à froid, filet en pointillés dorés sur les nerfs, doubles filets dorés, fleurons dorés, titre doré, tranches mouchetées. Exemplaire revêtu d'une agréable reliure du temps. Il s'ouvre sur un portrait-frontispice figurant l'auteur. ''Les mouvements d'expression sont les éléments du langage spontané de l'homme et des animaux. Il ne peut donc être indifférent de rechercher quel lien secret unit les signes spontanément employées aux choses signifiées, c'est-à-dire, l'idée ou le sentiment qu'ils manifestent, de montrer comment ces signes s'engendrent et comment ils s'associent ; de rechercher enfin s'ils résultent d'une manière nécessaire des conditions intimes de l'organisation des animaux, ou s'ils dépendent d'une sorte de convention tacite entre tous les animaux d'une même espèce''.
