"Freer's translation is meticulously accurate and is presented attractively by alternating pages of the photocopied original Latin text with pages of translation....As a picture of the level of understanding that prevailed just before the first experimental and analytical approaches to glandular function, Adenographia is of value and it is fascinating to read."--General and Comparative Endocrinology "A readable, well-done translation with adequate chapter notes, bibliography, index, and an excellent introduction....Having the photocopied original Latin page side-by-side each page of English translation is welcomed."--Doody's Health Sciences Book Reviews "Freer's translation is meticulously accurate and is presented attractively by alternating pages of the photocopied original Latin text with pages of translation....As a picture of the level of understanding that prevailed just before the first experimental and analytical approaches to glandular function, Adenographia is of value and it is fascinating to read."--General and Comparative Endocrinology "A readable, well-done translation with adequate chapter notes, bibliography, index, and an excellent introduction....Having the photocopied original Latin page side-by-side each page of English translation is welcomed."--Doody's Health Sciences Book Reviews "Freer's translation is meticulously accurate and is presented attractively by alternating pages of the photocopied original Latin text with pages of translation....As a picture of the level of understanding that prevailed just before the first experimental and analytical approaches to glandular function, Adenographia is of value and it is fascinating to read."--General and Comparative Endocrinology "A readable, well-done translation with adequate chapter notes, bibliography, index, and an excellent introduction....Having the photocopied original Latin page side-by-side each page of English translation is welcomed."--Doody's Health Sciences Book Reviews "Freer's translation is meticulously accurate and is presented attractively by alternating pages of the photocopied original Latin text with pages of translation....As a picture of the level of understanding that prevailed just before the first experimental and analytical approaches to glandular function, Adenographia is of value and it is fascinating to read."--General and Comparative Endocrinology "A readable, well-done translation with adequate chapter notes, bibliography, index, and an excellent introduction....Having the photocopied original Latin page side-by-side each page of English translation is welcomed."--Doody's Health Sciences Book Reviews
Reseña del editor:
Adenographia, or The Description of the Glands of the Entire Body by Thomas Wharton, Fellow of the College (Of Physicians) of London, was first published 'at' London in 1656. It was the first systematic account of the glands of the human body; Wharton himself discovered the duct which carried saliva from the sub-maxillary gland to the mouth, and studied the umbilical cord. He was the first to name the thyroid and jugular glands. This is the first translation to be published, and will be of immense value to those interested in the history of medicine. This book is intended for those interested in the history of medicine.

Buchbeschreibung Hardcover. Zustand: Like New. Reprint. Dark red hardback in nearly new condition: firm and square with bright gilt lettering just ever so slightly edge-worn. Contents crisp, tight and clean; no pen-marks. Not from a library so no such stamps or labels. Looks and feels unread. Thus a very nice copy. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 113661
