JOHN V. ORTH, Graham Kenan Professor of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, teaches property and legal history. He is the author of Combination and Conspiracy: A Legal History of Trade Unionsim, 1721-1906 (1991) and The Judicial Power of the United States: The Eleventh Amendment in American History (1987), as well as of numerous scholarly articles.
