Joe Hassett was born on the west side of New York City. He earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and subsequently a master’s degree from Columbia University. Hassett served as a teacher in P.S. 152 Manhattan for fifteen years until being promoted to Assistant Principal at the same school. He served in this position for the following two decades. His passion for travel and his desire to see the historic sites of the world led him to visiting over eighty countries, on all seven continents. Hassett currently spends his time volunteering as a city tour guide in New York and is an active member of the Circumnavigators Club, a group for people who have successfully encircled the Earth. Dusk in Del Rio is Joe Hassett’s first published novel.
